Reminiscence

Reminiscence of the day we first met Remains forever in my heart Felt like we almost skipped a heartbeat Coy and jittery to look into the eye

We share a beautiful bond Stronger than the yellow gold So special in its own way I like you more with each day

Forever you are there when I need you, When that spirit of my mine, needs a lift Forever you listen to me when I need you For sure you are an incredible gift

True friendship is very rare This adage now seems untrue The reason being I found you A friend that surely I would treasure is you

For so long we have been together You have directed me to the right path when I went wrong Showered immense care on me With so much patience & love

With each passing day Our friendship will surely grow Through thick & thin we will be with each other For now and forever

Dubai

Dubai .. a city where Innumerable dreams are slowly drifting A city where Sky rocketing sky scrapers are as high as the sky A city where buzzing mornings Are pulsating by the night With colorful lights lit up all around An enthralling sight indeed A city where the eyes of every person Speaks one thousand words Each one has a tale of their own Many are away from their loved ones In pursuit of a strong future For whom they care about For whom they adore A city that just let's you be... And do what you desire... A city where I found myself... And realised what I want to do in life.. Where I wanted to go... A city where everyday life is a race.... Where it is the survival of the fittest... A city where businesses are moving in break neck speed... Where you just cannot look back .. A city that teaches you a lot... A city that helps you build a bond ... As I look past the window... I see rows of cars moving incessantly... Just like the relentless waves... A city that I chose & A city that chose me 😀

I see a sea of changes

I just stepped into new phase of life in UAE, just thought of sharing my views about Dubai. A decade ago, I have been to UAE, twice I guess. Things have changed by leaps and bounds. Every single thing is automated. Want to cross the road? Press a button and wait. Want to go by bus? Press the button and wait for the door to open. ‘Nol’ cards makes life so hassle free. Whether you want to use the Metro, bus or even park your car, all you need to do is swipe/tag your ‘Nol’ card. No conductors or issuance of tickets unless you really want to do so. The ‘Dubai Metro’ is the lifeline of the city. It is so convenient, well-connected, fast and easy to use the metro. There are two lines- the green and red lines, and people can interchange between lines in two stops. In every corner you will spot a super market filled with Laban, milk, juices, chocolates, vegetables, fruits and what not? Different kinds of offers flood the festive season in the supermarkets. Just like India, there is this small shop in Bur Dubai, which sells samosas, mirchi bhajjis and alu bondas! It tastes so yum.. And of course the falafils, need no mention. Restaurants and hotels are plenty in here. Life is moving in such a fast pace here. In the brink of an eye, it’s my third week in this city. Malyalam can be a big savior… if you do know the language you are kept in high spirits I would say! With my Malayalam, I can even get a guy working in a store to come right till the door to guide me an address..

Scorching heat at BAroda

This is my first visit to Gujarat. The place was awesome! I could say its a town typically for foodies... My cousin and her dad picked us up from the station. The minute we got off the train, we felt the scorching heat! It was too much to take... From 32 to 43 degrees oh my god!
We got home in less than five minutes, that's how close their house is from the station. We then had lunch. Post lunch,  archita and I decided to step out. She had some work in her college. I met a couple of her friends, a smart bunch of girls, I would say. Her friends said we could all go out together, and so I quickly got home and changed. We then went to a lounge called "that place".. Was good fun and we clicked awesome pictures. We both then got back home and just chatted with mom and aunt. Again after seven, we went out. My cousin was actually driving the ford fiesta so well!!! We then had the typical guru snack-lot. It was a rice based snack that tasted real yummmmmm..... We had to make arrangements for her friends surprise party and then got back home.
Next morning we woke up at 5.30 am and got ready to kidnap her friend for a long drive.... We surprised her friend early in the morning. We got back home and spent the rest of the time a home. In the evening, they had arranged for a surprise party which I too went for. The remaining three days at Baroda was spent munching local food, visiting temples, visiting relatives, listening to a lot of GYaan! I also went for a movie with archi-aashiqui 2 and it was pretty hopeless!,,

Distance

Sometimes some people move spaces, The distance near us seems really far, Although very near… Sometimes, people stay aloof, The reason still remains unknown, To err is human, To forgive is divine, Seldom do we realize, That life is too short, So let’s learn to forgive and forget, Burry the past, Live the present, Don’t hope for future, For all you know, You may, or May not be...

Unsung heroines

Come March and there is this hype all over about the International Woman’s Day. Big deal – I thought and I just put down my thoughts about the same and I title it
THE UNSUNG HEROINES
We always hear that “Behind every successful man there is a woman", which tells a great deal about woman power. But we never generally hear, that “Behind every successful woman there is a man”. For, if a woman is successful, it is largely because of her own efforts and her tight rope walking skills. Few are lucky to have the support of the family.
It is said, “if you have the spark in your eyes and fire in the belly, you can make it big”. However, how true is this for women? For a woman, other than the spark in the eyes and fire in the belly, she needs a supportive and understanding family too.
Every woman cannot become a Sania Mirza or Aishwarya Rai ………. Praises galore for these kind of women. But what about some of our mothers - who have given up their choices for the sake of our families …… I think these women are the true heroines – THE UNSUNG HEROINES.

Come to think of Women’s day and all the hype about it…especially in the last few years….I find it ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS…SIMPLY SILLY…..why do we need an International Women’s Day…a day to restate our rights?? Is there an International Men’s Day? Do men try to ask and establish their rights (at least not that I know of and not in India. I heard this happens in China ). I feel we are just being belittled. Gone are the days of restating rights. What we want is equality and not any concessions. Today, we need to establish our rights and not ask for our rights . We need to do this whenever and wherever necessary – RIGHT THEN. We cannot wait to be heard…we need to speak!!

journalism at mop

A dawn of a brand new semester
And the last semester ever
Three years
Six semesters
Is all that an under-graduate degree can offer
What happens in those three years remains a big question mark?
When I look back
I still think
I am that little girl
Who screamed happily after getting her twelfth standard marksheet
But no..
It has been two years
Two and a half years
Since all that happened
We moved out of school
Came to college
A place which has taught each one of us so much
To share
To care
To love
To live
To be
It is now the beginning of the final semester in college
A life which I think
Is the best part of my life is actually coming to a close,
Sadness creeps in.
Thinking about friends
Just happiness creeps in.
A set of real good friends
Who have been with me
Through thick and thin
To whom I can talk my mind out..
Whenever I want
However I want
Yes,
There have been times of lameness
Stupidity
But,
It is all a part and parcel of life
One gets a little close
One moves a little far
We are all distant
Yet very close
Very very
In five months from now
We will all part ways
Then we will be far away
Yet close
Five semesters of togetherness
Is coming to a close
To break the ice was so difficult
And now
To part ways is going to be so so difficult
We never used to talk to each other properly
But now
The whole concept of groups is there
And also not there..
We all are real good friends now
Each one deserves a bow
The fun
The fun
The fun
The facebook group
The facebook chats
The video calls
The gtalk chats
The hilarious status updates
Everything is going to end soon
Very soon
Life will create its own way
For each one of us
At this juncture
Now, filled with mixed emotions
Each one will be deeply missed
By each other
I just hope we are all just like this
And stand for each other
Forever and
ev
eve
ever
